DRUGS INFORMATION CENTER

 Hong Kong. China

A  drugs education centre in the Narcotic Division building of the Hong Kong Police, this exhibit informs the public about the effects of drugs via three main colour coded displays:

The Agent: This central theme’s focus is on drugs, their properties and effects.  The Agent case work houses objects, images and multimedia. The structure continues to the second level of the space becoming a physical link to a class room, a study centre and a library.  These research areas are open to the public and provide an opportunity to study the effect of drug usage.

The Host: A series of suitcases filled with images, audio and text contain the stories of people touched by drug addiction from users to those peripherally affected such as parents and healthcare workers.

The Environment: These interactive areas confront the visitor with situations where they may encounter the opportunity to use drugs, such as peer pressure, school or home. This “practice” challenge  prepares the visitor to make an informed choice should the situation arise in their everyday life.
