London transport museum

London, England

Housed within a historically protected, 1870 Victorian flower market building in Covent Garden Piazza, the museum presents the story of London’s public transport from 1800 to the present day.

The story begins on the top level of the building with Victorian London and the age of the horse. As the visitor descends through the building they also move through time, discovering how the introduction of steam as a power source leads directly to systematically designed public transportation, and how electricity enables the rapid growth of London through it’s public transit expansion. The exhibitory in each era is designed to reflect it’s time period, with hands on mechanical interactives gradually developing into high tech multi-media experiences.
